El Hospital Virgen del Rocío, en Sevilla, ha puesto en marcha un Banco de Donación de Leche Materna, el segundo en Andalucía tras el de Granada. Allí se almacena el más preciado alimento para bebés prematuros y otros recién nacidos que sufren graves patologías. Cuando sus madres no pueden alimentarlos con su propia leche, otras mujeres solidarias con excedente donan la suya para ayudar a que salgan adelante. En España existen doce bancos de leche humana. Cada año, unas 1.500 mujeres donan 7.000 litros de leche que alimentan en sus primeros días a 2.000 niños.

La leche materna es muy importante no solamente para los bebés prematuros sino para aquellos cuyas madres por el motivo que fuera no pueden dar el pecho o no tienen suficiente cantidad de leche. A mí personalmente me ha pasado y me hubiese gustado contar con este tipo de ayuda. Enhorabuena al Hospital Virgen del Rocío y a los que han hecho posible este logro.
