Estudió Educación Física y viendo el desalentador futuro que le ofrecía Rumanía, pagó un viaje en una caravana ilegal y llegó a Balerma, en el término municipal de El Ejido, Almería. Trabajó cogiendo tomates y descargando sandías para poder ir a entrenar por las tardes y cumplir su sueño. Años de duro esfuerzo que le llevaron a vivir en cortijos abandonados e incluso en un convento a cambio de dar clases. Con el permiso de residencia pudo inscribirse en la Federación Española de Atletismo y desde entonces su carrera en absoluto y máster ha sido meteórica: cuenta con varios subcampeonatos del mundo y ha sido en diferentes ocasiones campeona de Europa y de España. El entrenador que más le ha marcado ha sido el mítico Emilio Campra, al que dedica cada una de sus hazañas.
