Paqui Alemán y Alejandro Ruiz se conocieron trabajando en una empresa de publicidad. Ella es natural de Almería y él un madrileño que lleva más de 25 años viviendo en esta ciudad andaluza. Tras el cierre de la empresa en la que trabajaban decidieron dar un salto y utilizar sus conocimientos de diseño para crear, en 2013, La Reciclería, una iniciativa en la que hacen lo que más les gusta: trabajar con las manos y dar vida a objetos desechados, principalmente libros. Con ellos hacen lámparas y objetos decorativos que se venden a través de internet por toda España y principalmente en los países del norte de Europa.
