Los médicos Fernando Henao y Esteban Nogales son parte del equipo de Oncología del Hospital Virgen Macarena. Tras un año de investigación, han descubierto que en el 20 % de los casos de cáncer de mama triple negativo, el más agresivo, existe una determinada mutación genética en la paciente. Esta constatación facilita la detección precoz de este tipo de cáncer y abre la puerta a tratamientos preventivos con los familiares. El estudio ha sido premiado por la Sociedad Andaluza de Oncología Médica en su congreso de 2016.
