La mayor parte de la población padece en algún momento de su vida lo que comúnmente se denomina vista cansada, esto es, presbicia. Lo habitual es que quien la padece use gafas progresivas. Juan José Conejero, profesor de Tecnología Óptica de la Universidad de Sevilla, ha desarrollado un sistema que permite adaptar estas lentes a las características y actividades de cada usuario. De esta manera, se evitarían habituales rechazos o dolores corporales por posturas anómalas.
