Ernesto Sánchez es el director de la división aeronáutica de Elimco, una empresa sevillana que comenzó  en 1992 haciendo pequeños bancos de test para la línea de producción de ensamblaje final de los aviones de EADS CASA en Sevilla. Ahora, más de diez años después, es una gran empresa con implantación internacional con una importante diversificación en sus líneas de negocio, en las que la aeronáutica juega un papel estratégico con Airbus Military y Eurocopter como principales clientes en Europa y a través de los que llegan a países como Australia, Turquía y Emiratos Árabes entre otros. En los últimos años se ha especializado en el diseño, desarrollo e integración de Sistemas Aéreos No Tripulados (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, UAV) del tipo mini y táctico, con aplicación en la agricultura, las comunicaciones, defensa y seguridad, gestión de emergencias, medio ambiente (estudios de impacto medioambiental), minería, observación de la Tierra y vigilancia e inspección de infraestructuras. Chile ha utilizado uno de sus drones para mapear las minas a cielo abierto más grandes del mundo.
