Marina Murillo es natural de San Fernando, Cádiz. Licenciada en 2010 en Matemáticas recibe ese mismo año el Premio Nacional al Mejor Expediente Académico. La isleña es doctora por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia y, aunque comienza un trabajo postdoctoral en el Centro Vasco de Matemáticas Aplicadas, acaba regresando a Castellón para ocupar una plaza de profesora de matemáticas en la Universidad Jaume I. Actualmente Marina conjuga su labor docente con la investigación. La Real Sociedad Matemática de España junto con la Fundación BBVA la han elegido entre los siete jóvenes más prometedores del país otorgándoles el Premio de Investigación Matemática Vicent Caselles.
