La Universidad de Jaén ha liderado el primer estudio que se realiza en España sobre el bilingüismo en comunidades donde solo se emplea un idioma oficial. Han participado 12 universidades de Andalucía, Canarias y Extremadura, 53 centros y más de 3.000 personas entre alumnado, familias y docentes. Su conclusión es que la educación bilingüe beneficia al alumnado tanto en el aprendizaje del segundo idioma como en el resto de materias
